Product Owner - £85k + 6k Car Allowance - Hybrid - Redhill or Milton Keynes

My client, a major player in UK motor finance, is on the cusp of an exciting, global transformation. They're seeking a Technical Product Owner to be at the heart of bringing a brand-new, bespoke leasing platform to life here in the UK.
This isn't an off-the-shelf solution. This is an in-house developed platform that's a core part of their Digital Consumer Bank strategy - already thriving across Europe and now landing on UK shores. You'll be joining right at the beginning of their UK journey, facing unique challenges and shaping how millions access finance in a highly regulated market.
This pivotal role offers a unique crossover between Product Owner and Product Manager. Initially, you'll be instrumental in developing the platform specifically for the UK market. As they progress, your remit will expand to ongoing running, enhancements, and strategic evolution of the platform.
What You'll Actually Be Doing:
* Be the Architect of Innovation: You'll own the product backlog and set the strategic vision for their leasing platform, crafting the development roadmap that drives them forward.
* Bridge the Gap: You're the go-to person, the ultimate translator between their business experts and their engineering teams. You'll arbitrate decisions, ensuring business priorities meet development capacity.
* End-to-End Ownership: From initial functional design through to live service, you'll ensure every piece of the puzzle fits perfectly and performs brilliantly.
* Lead & Grow: You'll mentor and manage a small team of BAs, and testers, fostering best practices and helping them thrive within a scaling product function.
* Navigate the Nuances: The UK market is complex, especially with regulations like Consumer Duty. You'll be central to embedding these requirements, ensuring the customers are always at the heart of what they build.
* Strategic & Practical: You'll manage demand, understand the bigger picture of the economic and market environment, and report at a portfolio level.
What They're Looking For In You:
This role is all about the right person fit. While a foundational understanding of technology is important, your ability to work with business users, prioritise backlogs, and understand the release process is paramount over deep, hands-on technical knowledge.
* A Seasoned Product Pro: You've got a good 5 years ish under your belt in a Product Owner or Product Manager role with a strong technical leaning.
* Agile at Heart: You live and breathe Agile methodologies and understand the full software development lifecycle.
* Financial Services Savvy: Experience in financial services is a must. While some leasing knowledge would certainly help, a strong Product Owner or Product Manager who has worked with an internally developed product would be a great alternative.
* A Natural Leader & Communicator: You're brilliant at articulating vision, chairing critical meetings, managing stakeholders (internal and third-party), and truly influencing outcomes. You'll build relationships across depts such as operations, commercial, legal, and compliance teams.
* Problem Solver & Visionary: You can manage the day-to-day, anticipate challenges, and translate a strategic vision into clear priorities.
* Technically Minded (conceptually): You have a high-level understanding of how products work under the hood - you'll be their go-to technical consultant for new features and projects. (their new platform is all on AWS!)
* Consumer-Centric: You instinctively put the customer first and understand regulatory requirements like Consumer Duty.
Where You'll Be:
This is a hybrid role, primarily based in Redhill, Surrey, with at least 3 days in the office. If you're based closer to Milton Keynes, they're flexible and could explore a blend of 2 days in MK and 1 day in Redhill, as their leasing team has a strong presence there. Occasional trips to Madrid (annually) might be on the cards too!
