Job title: Manufacturing Engineer Job type: Days based, Perm Location: Farnborough Pay: £40,000 - £48,000 DOE Hours: 7.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 7.00am to 12.00pm Friday Our client is a leading manufacturer of precision engineered components for the aerospace sector, manufacturing rigid pipes, ducting, fabrications, sub-assemblies, sheet-metal details, composite tubes, machined details, specialist fasteners, along with polishing and finishing services. Purpose of the Role This role is a key position within the Manufacturing Engineering Team responsible for the delivery of all aspects of Manufacturing Processes/Methods & Tooling/Fixturing, in line with regulatory, customer and internal requirements. This involves industrialising the engineering elements, to ensure efficient and cost-effective production of components. The role will be responsible for management & support of daily production as well as medium- and long-term projects to meet the needs of the company’s client or customer base. Responsibilities also include analysing production data for improvement, ensuring quality control, and developing/implementing new technologies. Key Responsibilities: ⦁ Design, develop and implement manufacturing processes and methods to ensure that products are produced efficiently, cost-effectively, and with the highest standards of quality. ⦁ Ensuring efficient and effective departmental operations, including department quality control and compliance adherence. ⦁ Coordinating activities and delegating work amongst the various technicians and technologists. ⦁ Overseeing daily KPI’s & running KPI reports. ⦁ Taking part in all external & internal Audits. ⦁ Testing products and service to ensure that they meet quality standards before launch. ⦁ Maintaining documentation of procedural changes. ⦁ Preparing performance reports for relevant stakeholders. ⦁ Collaborating with external vendors and suppliers to ensure that they meet quality standards. ⦁ Ensuring that all processes meet safety, legal and other national or international standard. Competency Requirements for the role: ⦁ A Degree or minimum of an in Mechanical or Production Engineering, with a strong background in Welding, Fabrication and/or metal forming. Relevant on the job experience will also be considered. ⦁ Previous experience in the Aerospace Industry ⦁ Computer literate with a proven desire to work with data. ⦁ Self-motivated and enthusiastic with ability to work well under pressure. ⦁ Ideally have experience with ERP systems, Catia, Solid Works and Alpha Cam. ⦁ Experience in activities of an Engineering Function within a manufacturing environment. Skills Required ⦁ Desirable Skills: Qualified in Green Belt Six Sigma, APQP/PPAP, Problem Solving ⦁ Technical Skills: Knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as Turning., Milling, Grinding, Welding, NDT Techniques, and general fabrication. Excellent in the ability to interpret the requirements of Engineering and Condition of Supply Drawings. ⦁ Quality Control: Understanding of quality control processes and adherence to industry standards. ⦁ Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts. ⦁ Organizational Skills: Effective time management, resource allocation, and project coordination. Be organised to be able to cope with multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-moving aerospace environment and with a high commitment to quality.
