Job description Support Workers Days OR Wake Nights Children's Residential Solo Home £13.80 - £14.70 per hr from 24 hrs - up to 42 hrs per week Join us in providing a safe, stable and loving environment that helps change lives. Children's Residential Support Worker - salary package ranging between £34,638.00 £39,193.20. Progress is a well-established, growing organisation that supports children and young adults with Learning Disabilities through our Residential and Supported living services across the West Midlands. Are you passionate about making a difference in a young persons life? We are looking for a dedicated, resilient, calm and caring individual to join our team as a Residential Support Worker in our Solo Childrens Home. This is a unique opportunity to work one-to-one with a young person who requires intensive support in safe and nurturing environment. The service offers an opportunity of providing experiences for staff to aid their own learning and development by enhancing their skill set in working with the hard to reach children. About the Role. You will play a vital role in supporting a young person with learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, sensory impairment, and associated behavioural challenges and/or complex care needs. Young people placed in solo homes often require high level support in their environment due to their diagnosis and difficulty with day to day living. Staff supporting will need to maintain the safety of the home, help young people develop life skills, build positive relationships, promote independence, liaise with professionals and families and ensure the young person is well cared for and thriving to be the best version of themselves! What do staff think: Working with young people leaves me with a feeling of accomplishment and warmth, going home that day knowing I have made a difference to a young persons life, even if thats just making the young person smile and laugh. Working with children and seeing their daily and weekly strides gives you a sense of purpose, knowing the time and effort poured into the young person is not in vain but helping them still live a fulfilled life with all the challenges and difficulties they face. What we want from you Qualifications / Experience Successful candidates will ideally need to have: Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare or Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce (Social Care Pathway), candidates who are successful and do not hold this qualification will be supported to complete this after passing their probation. Emotional resilience, patience, and empathy. You will also have experience of working with children and young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, sensory impairment, and associated behavioural challenges. Car drivers are preferred as part of the role involves taking the children to appointments and to activities in the community. Skills/Abilities We would love to welcome you to our team if you possess the following: Youre a passionate person who wants to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children. The ability to communicate on various levels, including good recording and reporting skills. Working knowledge of, following, and working to Care and support Plans. Experience of Conflict Management and dealing with difficult, and potentially high-pressure situations You will be a supportive, caring, approachable and a helpful and reliable team player. An enthusiastic person who brings fresh ideas and can work on their own initiative. Shifts: A range of shifts inclusive of early shifts, late shifts, long days, sleep ins and alternative weekends. We also have wake night vacancies which consists of a pattern of 9pm-9am. Rotas are across a full working week Monday-Sunday. About Progress We have been established for 24 years and provide Residential, Supported Living and Fostering services to Children and Young Adults with Learning Disabilities across the Midlands. We will reward you with a starting salary of £13.80 - £14.70 per hr, (salary based on competency qualifying criteria) plus premium rates for Sleeps of £62.55 (min 1 x per week) and regular overtime opportunities to further increase earnings.
