London Women’s Clinic is a leading private fertility clinic delivering high-quality, evidence-based care in a patient-centred environment. We are seeking a Cryoscientist to join our multidisciplinary clinical team.
About the role:
This role involves monitoring and maintaining liquid nitrogen storage systems, handling and transporting cryopreserved material with appropriate witnessing, managing documentation including obtaining and reviewing patient consents for storage, maintaining storage data accuracy, and supporting audits and regulatory reporting to the HFEA.
Key responsibilites:
* Assisting with the management of cryopreserved gametes and embryos. This includes communicating with patients about their stored cells, transports between clinics and cryobanks as well as removal from storage.
* To handle cryopreserved gametes and embryos for movements in and out of liquid nitrogen storage vessels.
* To be responsible for accurate data entry, data validation and updating clinical and scientific information concerning gamete and embryo storage.
* Participate in computer based and physical audits of stored gametes and embryos.
* To assist with the maintenance of liquid nitrogen storage tanks and vessels.
* Ensure compliance with HFEA regulations, GDPR and laboratory safety procedures and protocols.
Qualifications & Skills:
* A bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, biophysics).
* Computer literacy, specifically the use of Excel and other Microsoft apps at intermediate level.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
Desirable Experience & Skills:
* Experience communicating with patients and multi-disciplinary teams
* Awareness and understanding of current HFEA regulations and consents concerning gamete and embryo storage.
* Experience working with liquid nitrogen.
* Experience with cryopreserved gamete and embryo handling.
* Experience with the fertility sector (preferable not essential).
