Job Summary
We are delighted to advertise for two additional Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (ANNPs) to join our team at Great Western Hospital in Swindon. You will be part of a motivated and passionate group of senior nurses working collaboratively with the perinatal team to deliver high-quality care to neonates and their families. Supported throughout your three-year apprenticeship by senior and newly qualified ANNPs, you will have opportunities for tertiary placements to gain intensive care experience and develop all four pillars of advanced practice towards your Masters in Advanced Practice.
Main duties of the job
* Attend Plymouth University and collaborate with the perinatal team to become a qualified ANNP, responsible for clinical leadership and management in neonatal care with a Masters in Advanced Practice.
* Provide evidence-based care, plan and implement infant management plans, request and interpret investigations, and ensure the correct use of medical devices.
* Promote a positive work environment, involve parents in care planning, and maintain professional development.
* Lead and coordinate workload using expert judgment, liaise with the multidisciplinary team, and develop local policies.
* Maintain accurate records respecting confidentiality, and deputise for the ward manager when needed.
* Engage in strategic development of neonatal services and represent at various meetings.
* Respond to service demands, disseminate information, and provide advice during high-risk deliveries, including performing clinical skills like examinations, cannulation, lumbar punctures, and intubation.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: First Level Qualification (RGN, RSCN, RN Child Branch, RM), Recognised Speciality course, Current NMC registration, Degree in Nursing or EBP module.
* Desirable: Management training, BLS/NLS/APLS instructor, Counselling training, Non-medical prescriber.
Experience
* Essential: Recent neonatal intensive care experience with management responsibilities, leadership skills.
* Desirable: Enhanced clinical skills, transport experience, research participation.
Knowledge
* Essential: Evidence-based practice, good computer skills, communication, and teaching skills.
* Desirable: Counselling skills.
