About The Role
Lead a team of technical staff managing complex repairs cases for council homes, predominantly damp related, through successful resolution. Coordinate repairs activity across a range of teams and develop preventative measures targeting common problems across the council’s housing stock.
Principal Responsibilities
* Operational lead for reactive and planned repairs programmes.
* Manage service area compliance with legal, regulatory, contractual and internal requirements.
* Coordinate repairs activity across teams.
* Develop and deliver service plans with stakeholders to innovate and improve.
* Deliver value for money and customer focus.
* Manage relationships with elected members.
* Prepare budgets and manage spend with prioritisation and planning.
* Implement audit and risk management procedures.
Leadership Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, motivate and develop team members per council policies.
* Ensure professional, competent, forward-thinking, customer-focused service.
* Embed council Values and Manager Habits to lead, support and drive cultural change.
Essential Requirements
* Degree level qualification in Building / Construction or equivalent experience.
* Detailed knowledge of building defects / construction techniques.
* Knowledge of landlord responsibilities for repairs & maintenance.
* Up-to-date knowledge of social housing and issues.
* Knowledge of construction Health & Safety including asbestos management procedures.
* Knowledge of standard building contracts.
