Job Title: Practice Nurse – Newark, Nottinghamshire Location: General Practice within Newark and Sherwood area (commutable from Balderton, Collingham, Farndon, and surrounding villages) Employment Type: Permanent – Full-Time (37.5 hrs) or Part-Time considered Salary: Up to £48,000 per annum (pro rata, dependent on skills and experience) About the Practice A progressive and patient-focused GP practice in the Newark area is looking for an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join its dynamic multidisciplinary team. Role Summary The postholder will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care within a general practice setting. You’ll deliver chronic disease management clinics, immunisation and screening services, health promotion activities, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of clinical quality and patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Deliver nurse-led clinics for patients with long-term conditions (diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension, cardiovascular disease) Provide childhood and adult immunisations, travel vaccinations, and cervical cytology screening Perform wound management, ECGs, blood pressure checks, and treatment room duties Support health promotion, lifestyle advice, NHS Health Checks, and screening programmes Ensure accurate and timely recording of patient information in line with data protection and clinical governance standards Contribute to achieving Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets and participate in clinical audit and quality improvement projects Work collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, and administrative staff to provide seamless care Maintain infection control standards, participate in safeguarding, and uphold CQC compliance requirements Engage in professional development, mandatory training, and annual appraisal Essential Criteria Registered Nurse (NMC) with valid UK registration Relevant experience in general practice or community nursing Trained in cervical cytology and immunisation Confident in chronic disease management Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills Committed to providing safe, evidence-based, and compassionate patient care Desirable Criteria Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification (or willingness to train) Experience in spirometry, ECG, wound care, or long-term condition reviews Knowledge of EMIS Web or SystmOne clinical systems Evidence of ongoing CPD and participation in quality improvement work Mentorship or leadership experience in a primary care setting Benefits & Support Competitive salary (up to £48,000 DOE) 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata) Funded CPD and protected learning time Supportive, forward-thinking clinical team NHS pension scheme participation Employee wellbeing and flexible working arrangements Clear career development pathways Working Hours: Typically Monday–Friday, 08:00–18:30 Flexible working patterns or part-time considered Minimal weekend or evening work How to Apply: Please send your CV and a covering letter highlighting your experience, qualifications, and areas of clinical interest.
