Location: North West London
A leading infrastructure engineering organisation is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to take on a key leadership role across major UK rail infrastructure works. This is a senior position with CEM (Contractors Engineering Manager) responsibility, leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and ensuring compliance under Network Rail standards.
This is a high-impact role for a Chartered Engineer who thrives in complex environments and wants to influence engineering delivery at scale.

About the Role:
The Principal Electrical Engineer will provide strategic engineering leadership across all MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Fire & Communications) systems, taking ownership of engineering assurance, governance, and technical excellence across the programme.
You will:
- Act as CEM over multiple CRE functions, providing direction and sign-off under NR/L2/INI/02009
- Lead technical assurance and design reviews to ensure constructability, compliance and best practice engineering standards
- Mentor and assess CRE applications, supporting technical development and engineering governance
- Oversee design approvals, calculations, technical submissions and controlled documentation
- Engage in HazID, HazOP, HazCON reviews and champion safety-led design
- Work closely with CAD/BIM teams to resolve clashes and align digital models with construction methodology
- Liaise with installation, commercial and planning teams to ensure engineering intent is delivered on site
- Lead technical communication across stakeholders, suppliers and subcontractors
- Support procurement and tender documentation from an engineering perspective
- Coach and develop future engineering leaders (CEM/CRE pathway)
Skills & Experience
- Chartered Engineer (IET / IMechE / CIBSE or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a Network Rail CEM on major UK rail or infrastructure programmes
- Strong background in MEP / Rail Systems / Infrastructure Electrical Engineering
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Expert understanding of Network Rail standards (including NR/L2/INI/02009)
- Familiarity with design reviews (CAT I / CAT II), assurance processes and technical documentation control
- Strong working knowledge of BIM workflows and engineering governance
Desirable
- Experience using tools such as Amtech, ETAP, HEVACOMP, Revit, AutoCAD or Microstation
- Knowledge of offsite fabrication and modern methods of delivery
- Additional leadership or safety qualifications (APM, PRINCE2, NEBOSH, ATEX/DSEAR)
