Hours: Various times available throughout the week.
Qualifications, experience and qualities:
Essential:
- Applicants must hold a Level 2 Teaching qualification.
Desirable:
- ASA/Swim England or STA Level 2 Teacher Qualification
- ASA/Swim England Level 1 Assistant Teaching Qualification
- Enthusiasm for teaching swimming.
- Previous experience within the leisure industry.
- Willingness to work at short notice.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to enthuse children and produce positive improvement.
- A caring and sensitive approach to the needs of children of all ages.
- Be able to display enthusiasm and patience.
Position key roles:
As a Swimming teacher you will be expected to:
- Teach small classes (Maximum of 9) or 1:1 lessons.
- Teach and encourage swimmers to achieve full potential.
- Asses swimmers by age and ability in accordance with our staff manual.
- Make recommendations related to the swimmer's progression within our mark scheme.
- Undertake teacher admin duties i.e. report cards, certificates and recommendations.
- Liaise with parents.
- Maintain and watch teaching station in a safe and tidy manner.
- Attend termly staff training sessions. (paid)
- Collect and tidy own equipment at start and end of lessons.
Additional Roles:
Within your shifts you will also be expected to assist in lessons when necessary. This will entail:
- Preparing children for entering the pool prior to lessons.
- Assist with the register.
- Encourage and support children.
- Liaise with parents.
- Keep each teaching station in a safe and tidy state.
- Collect and tidy equipment at the start and end of lessons.
- Listen to the teacher and pass teaching points on to the children.
- Swim beside the children as they swim during the lesson.
