The Role
To assist the Infrastructure Operations Manager (Networks) in ensuring the integrity of highly available network infrastructure in order to provide services to end users.
The post holder will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, supporting, developing and is some cases designing communication networks throughout the NHSL estate, continuing the ongoing development of the NHSL data communications infrastructure.
The services provided by the post holder have a direct impact on the continuity of patient care within NHSL

What we'll need you to bring
1. The post requires an individual who can demonstrate a high level of technical networking and oral communication skills.
2. The post holder should be educated to degree level in an IT discipline and extensive experience in a network support role.
3. The post holder must have proven experience of supporting multi-vendor networks and be familiar with prevailing network standards in the telecommunications industry, particularly with regard to Cisco technology solutions.
4. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to work within a team environment are essential to the success of the post holder.
5. A driving licence is required, this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
6. IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) qualified
7. Proven track record within NHS
8. Experience in monitoring platforms e.g. SolarWinds
9. Firewall experience
10. Proven track record in the regular use of Cisco and networking products in order to produce reports for service monitoring purposes
11. Proven ability to support the administrative and service delivery aspects of a high pressure data comms support service covering around 14,000 end users
12. Familiar with Infoblox, Fortinet and F5 products
13. Knowledge of investigative and troubleshooting methodologies
14. Working knowledge of NHS Scotland data communications platforms, policies and regulatory guidance
15. Customer service orientation
16. Proven workload planning skills with ability to handle multiple tasks
17. Proven performance management skills
18. Highly motivated and self-directed
