We are working in partnership with secondary schools across Leeds who are recruiting reliable, skilled School Technicians to support day-to-day teaching and learning across Science, Design & Technology, and ICT departments.
These roles are vital to the smooth running of practical lessons, ensuring safe, well-prepared, and well-resourced learning environments.
Opportunities range from short-term supply to long-term and permanent placements, depending on school needs and your experience.
Available Roles
🧪 Science Technician
* Prepare and set up practical experiments for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
* Maintain laboratories, equipment, chemicals, and materials
* Ensure health & safety procedures and COSHH regulations are followed
* Support teachers during practical lessons when required
🛠️ Design & Technology Technician
* Prepare materials and equipment for DT lessons (wood, metal, textiles, food tech where applicable)
* Maintain tools, machinery, and workshop areas
* Support safe use of equipment and practical demonstrations
* Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering
💻 IT Technician
* Provide technical support for classroom ICT equipment and school networks
* Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
* Support set-up and maintenance of laptops, desktops, and interactive screens
* Assist staff and pupils with day-to-day technical queries
Key Responsibilities (All Roles)
* Ensure equipment and resources are ready for lessons
* Maintain safe, organised, and compliant working environments
* Carry out routine checks, maintenance, and logging of equipment
* Support teaching staff with practical and technical requirements
* Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times
Requirements
* Previous experience as a School Technician (Science, DT, IT, or similar technical role)
* Strong practical and organisational skills
* Awareness of health & safety requirements relevant to the role
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider school team
* Reliable, flexible, and professional approach
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
