The PACU has 19 bed spaces to serve Main theatres, James Paget Orthopaedic Centre and Day care theatres. We provide a wide range of surgical specialties including Emergency Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, ENT, Gynaecology, Obstetrics and General specialties. Candidates will need to have a flexible attitude to work and have a great team focus. As an support worker working within the PACU, you will support practitioners on the immediate care of the post operative patient, as well as playing a crucial role in the efficient turnaround of the Theatre to maximise utilisation. Excellent verbal and non verbal communication skills are required as it is essential to be able to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels. You must be available for work bank holidays, weekends and able to work until 2200 We have a genuine desire to support staff development and have great opportunities for career progression. Advert To work with supervision and guidance in providing and maintaining a high standard of patient care for those patients that went through surgery. The post holder will be expected to circulate duties within the PACU and work as part of a multi-professional team when required. The post holder will also be required to help transfer patients back to the ward providing comfort and support whilst maintaining respect, privacy, dignity and confidentiality. Maintain a clean and safe working area. Collect items from theatre stores Locate and collect specialist medical equipment when necessary from the ward areas. Deliver specimens and collection of blood from pathology lab for patient in recovery. Dirty corridor duties including monitoring of stocks level of Nitrous Oxide, CO2 and O2.
