About us: Epson Telford Limited, established in 1987, operates a 24/7 manufacturing site on a 50-acre campus. We are the only European manufacturing and distribution site for ink cartridges and textile inks, shipping products to Germany for distribution across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We prioritize quality and innovation, utilizing in-house machinery, design, and Epson 6-axis robots.
The Plant Maintenance department seeks a candidate with a mechanical and electrical background. Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager, the role offers diverse responsibilities and opportunities for improvement and change.
Hours of work:
Days: Monday to Thursday 08:15-17:15, Friday 08:15-13:15
Main job functions:
1. Respond promptly and effectively to machinery breakdowns, using logical fault-finding to identify root causes and ensure high-standard repairs.
2. Maintain, monitor, and repair critical auxiliary systems such as compressed air, vacuum, reverse osmosis, effluent, and extraction systems.
3. Collaborate with production teams during new business or line implementations to meet deadlines and ensure service requirements.
4. Propose and implement small-scale improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, 5S, productivity, or reduce costs.
5. Manage tasks from the HEAT request system, ensuring completion to a high standard and within expected timeframes.
6. Mentor junior team members.
7. Provide technical support for major projects, including layout changes, line installations, and equipment moves.
8. Complete electrical, mechanical, and fluid installations from specification to testing, ensuring safety and standards compliance.
9. Conduct basic site maintenance tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical works, HVAC, and LED replacements.
10. Respond to out-of-hours breakdowns as part of a callout rota with standby allowance.
11. Assist the PM Manager/Specialist with projects, safety systems, documentation, and procedures.
Skills required:
1. Diagnosis and repair of mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems.
2. Effective communication skills.
3. Ownership of tasks and self-time management.
4. Logical fault-finding and root cause analysis.
5. Fitting, fabrication, carpentry, plumbing, and drywalling skills.
6. Flexibility and adaptability to change.
7. Risk assessment and basic project management skills.
Qualifications (desirable):
1. Mechanical and/or electrical qualifications.
2. Supervisory experience.
3. IOSH/NEBOSH certifications.
4. HNC or NVQ4 in engineering.
5. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
6. RTITB Counterbalance forklift license.
Experience required (essential):
1. Previous experience in a similar role.
Experience desirable:
1. Project management, improvement projects, Kaizen activities.
2. Health & Safety activities such as auditing, risk assessment, and disaster management.
