We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Technical Engineer to join our small (40 people) but mighty (thousands of customers) team as we grow our products and services in 2026 and celebrate our 30th year in business!
CST are providers of RF based solutions including two-way radio, paging systems and critical messaging solutions – some integrated to third party systems. We serve a large end-user customer base and small reseller network. Our clients include globally recognised corporations and private VIP’s in the UK and overseas. CST’s installations cover all industries from national hotel and retail chains to Superyachts and NYC skyscrapers.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced RF professional. You'll be working hands on to technical tasks and supporting colleagues in this "All Rounder" role.
Research, Design, Test, Document
* Assist with occassional research, design and testing of radio frequency-based products including low band UHF technology (Apply online only) MHz) and two-way radio solutions developed by the company or as sold by our manufacturer suppliers. Standalone and integrated solutions.
* Assist Technical Manager with new software and hardware products to be operationally assessed using tools, as part of technical sign-off.
* Help deliver reliable, high-performance wireless systems working closely with project and engineering colleagues to ensure every system meets top-tier industry standards.
* Assist with the creation, delivery and control of technical documentation and procedures.
Production Supervision
* Lead liaison between Technical and small Production team (6) ensuring successful integration of technical improvements, new products and programming updates.
* Be the first point of contact for changes in system build or configuration, introduction of new products via hands on training and technical quality assurance etc.
* Perform regular assessments to ensure CST quality control / assurance standards are met.
* Monitor the technical skillset and knowledge retention of the Production Technicians (6) and Engineers (4) defining and delivering training to improve technical understanding.
Team Support
* Acting technical liaison to assist relevant ISO processes and investigate non-conformance issues. Answer technical queries and remote assist Field Engineers where required.
* Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and productivity and reduce waste.
* Product training to colleagues who deliver client installation and support (one day a month).
* Attend client, supplier or team meetings on or off site where required.
* Occasional travel with engineers to client sites to assist complex site surveys or installations.

Experience
* Electronics Engineering or similar education and proven UK work experience. At least four years in a similar role, with at least two years in a supervisory position.
* Knowledge of RF based technology such as paging, two-way radio is advantageous. Knowledge of IT hardware (routers), Windows software and networking is preferred.
* Programming languages for software applications (ideally C#, Java, Python).
* Experienced in workflow process and best practice for our ISO-certified environment.

* Strong background in RF, comfortable carrying out hands on work, enjoys occasional client facing meetings and surveys / installations and wants to help colleagues succeed in delivering solutions.Proven practical RF testing and occasional design across low band UHF range.
* Good practical skills including soldering, fault finding and the use of RF test equipment. Good knowledge of RF digital / analogue and power supply / antennae distribution (on-site).
* Conversant with simple manufacturing techniques including design for manufacture test.
* Strong communicator with excellent email, report and tech report writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly any problems, solutions or results to various stakeholders.
