Overview
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic, qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong background/interest in SEN and Disability, ideally with Special School experience. A particular interest in supporting the learning of pupils with SLD/ASD who have challenging behaviours linked to their disability would be an advantage, as would experience of supporting the learning of children and young people with PMLD. Applications from graduates with a degree in a relevant field and strong interest/experience in this sector are welcome, as are strong candidates nearing the end of an NVQ3 course in STL or other qualifications as detailed at the bottom of the NCC job description. Responsibilities
* Support personalised learning at all levels as part of a team, including teaching, learning, assessment, behaviour management and care.
* Be proactive in seeking and developing your own CPD.
* Participate in school training (e.g., Communication, Makaton, PSHE/RSE, Behaviour and Physical Intervention using the NCC Approach, Moving and Handling, and Personal and Intimate Care) to maximise access to learning.
* Access multidisciplinary training in physical management and health tasks as appropriate (e.g., gastrostomy feeds).
* Work as a TA in a specific class while being part of the school community and, when needed, participate in wider school life and enrichment activities.
Qualifications and Training
* Degree in a relevant field (as listed at the bottom of the NCC job description) with strong interest/experience in SEN and Disability.
* NVQ3 or equivalent nearing completion (as detailed at the bottom of the NCC job description).
* Contact the Headteacher for clarification on qualifications if unsure about eligibility.
Working Hours
Mon-Fri 8.50am-3.50pm, with 30 minutes lunch break.
