Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a surveyor with extensive experience and a strong technical knowledge of rating, to lead our team of surveyors, as we prepare for the new rating list. The Rating Department provides expert advice to a wide range of clients across the office, industrial and retail sectors across the UK. Based in our Head Office in Denton, Manchester, the Associate Director of Business Rates would be primarily leading and developing our team of rating surveyors to manage casework from our diverse client base to reduce their historic and future business rates liabilities.
Main Duties
* Client and Project Leadership: Acts as the lead advisor for major clients on business rates strategy, managing complex portfolios and relationships and ensuring high standards of project delivery.
* Negotiations: Directly negotiate with the Valuation Office Agency on behalf of clients, undertaking Rating Valuations and Appeals. Representing at Valuation Tribunals.
* Project execution: Undertake research / analysis of comparable rental evidence and ensure the delivery of the work of the surveying team is to the highest standards.
* Strategic development: Develop and implement strategic initiatives in the surveying department and the wider business. Help to shape the business rates strategy and drive operational excellence.
* Team leadership: Support, develop and coach the surveying team, providing mentorship with a collaborative approach.
* Peer Support: Work alongside and liaise with the senior leadership team.
The Candidate
* A qualified Rating Surveyor with a minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Rating Surveyor.
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior surveyor role.
* Proven experience of managing diverse portfolios.
* Extensive knowledge and experience of Rating and case law.
* A strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and business sense.
* Have excellent negotiation skills.
* Confident at communicating with teams and colleagues across the business at all levels.
* A strong leader with a passion and drive for supporting a team in growth and development.
* Possess good IT skills including proficiency in Word and Excel.
* Be well organised, flexible and able to work to tight deadlines.
* Hold a full Driving Licence.
