Craftsperson (Lines) Galashiels Salary from £32,240 per annum Closing Date : Friday 27th of February 2026 Help us create a better future, quicker As Craftsperson (Lines) you’ll be constructing, maintaining and repairing the electrical distribution network in line with company policies and standards, while delivering all work efficiently and to agreed productivity levels. What you’ll be doing The role requires effective fault management, operational switching on both HV and LV networks, as appropriately authorised and developing the skills needed to work safely on substations, cables and overhead lines. The position contributes as an active member of Energy Networks, supervising contractors, capturing essential data such as timesheets and as-built records, and acting as the nominated person in charge of safety for all site activities. Responsibilities include undertaking programmed, post&8209;fault and fault switching, fault finding, testing, and issuing or receiving safety documents as authorised. The role also involves planning jobs, securing necessary materials, vehicles and equipment, supporting the restoration of customer supplies through standby duties, and representing the company professionally on-site to help minimise customer complaints. What you’ll bring Expert knowledge in Overhead Construction, Maintenance and fault location on overhead networks Sound knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation. Awareness of network development policies and procedures. Working knowledge of network and business data and network management systems. Contract & Service Level Agreement (SLA ) management and general commercial & regulatory awareness. Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges. Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues. Experience in the use of electrical test equipment.
