Position Summary
Baptist Health Princeton Hospital
Administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting, providing active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
1. Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans; evaluate patient progress towards expected outcomes.
2. Respect diversity and build respectful relationships with team members and patients.
3. Advocate for patients and their families.
4. Provide age-appropriate care based on knowledge and skills for the patient population served.
5. Serve as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinician as needed.
6. Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary team for effective planning and management.
7. Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
8. Demonstrate understanding of growth and development principles, assess patient data, and interpret information relevant to age-specific needs.
9. Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
10. Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medication administration, and safety measures.
11. Maintain competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
12. Prioritize patient care according to Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
13. Identify and resolve problems effectively.
14. Delegate tasks based on patient needs and team member capabilities.
15. Communicate patient condition and unit concerns with the healthcare team.
16. Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environment.
17. Be aware of legal issues and patients' rights.
18. Support new staff and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
19. Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and regulations.
20. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
Other Functions
1. Contribute to team knowledge, skills, and quality improvement initiatives.
2. Participate in or lead committees related to nursing practice and performance improvement.
3. Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching.
4. Use supplies efficiently and keep work areas safe and organized.
5. Attend staff development, meetings, and committees.
6. Identify professional development needs and pursue ongoing education.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
8. Provide care within the virtual hospital setting, utilizing TeleHealth technology for assessments and interventions.
9. Collaborate with in-home clinical staff to support patient needs.
10. Demonstrate age-appropriate care and ability to manage urgent/emergent situations remotely.
Hospital Care at Home (In-home Nursing)
1. Administer direct patient care in the home setting for acute conditions.
2. Assess patient needs and contribute to care planning.
3. Travel to patient homes within designated regions.
4. Coordinate with virtual and support staff to deliver care.
5. Use in-home virtual technology for patient assessments and care delivery.
6. Transport items, equipment, and medications as needed.
Qualifications
Education/Training
* Graduate of an approved nursing program.
* Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and specific department.
Licensure/Certification
* Current Alabama RN license or valid multistate license.
* Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
* ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain units; NRP for NICU.
* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits.
Experience
* Minimum 1 year of nursing experience unless approved otherwise.
* Two years of acute care nursing experience required for Hospital Care at Home.
