Are you an experienced Construction Technician looking for a rewarding role in education? A leading college in Cambridge is seeking a dedicated and skilled technician to join their Construction department on a long-term, part-time basis.
About the Role
As a Construction Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of practical sessions within the college’s workshop facilities. You’ll help maintain a safe, efficient, and well-equipped working environment, assisting both staff and students in a range of construction-based activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons and demonstrations
2. Maintain and organise the workshop space, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
3. Operate and maintain machinery, including forklifts and other construction-related equipment
4. Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions
5. Conduct minor repairs and maintenance of tools and equipment
Requirements
6. A background in a construction-related field (e.g., carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing, or general construction)
7. Demonstrable experience in a practical workshop or technical environment
8. Valid forklift licence (essential)
9. Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
10. Excellent communication and teamworking skills
