About The Tax Reporting Team

The Tax Reporting team handles a broad range of corporate clients, meeting tax advisory and compliance needs amid fast-changing economic and legislative conditions in the UK and overseas. Clients range from listed multinationals to large entrepreneurial businesses and domestic owner-managed businesses.


About The Role

As a graduate trainee on a three-year training contract, you will support the delivery of high-quality VAT compliance and advisory services to clients. You will work with a broad range of clients across sectors including multinational businesses, international and UK-listed and private companies, central and local government, not-for-profit organisations, and financial institutions.


During Your First Two Years

* Support with the provision of high-quality VAT compliance on a portfolio of clients;
* Research VAT technical questions, background information, and relevant publications with the senior VAT team;
* Assist in developing the business and seeking new fee-earning opportunities internally and externally;
* Support the VAT team with preparation of VAT return calculations;
* Engage in written and verbal communications with HMRC;
* Communicate with the VAT team on issues or findings;
* Develop technical knowledge from studies and on-the-job experience;
* Present to internal/external audiences on VAT topics.


End of Year Three

* Assist in managing a client portfolio and act as a main point of contact with other advisors;
* Develop the VAT service offering using advisory skills on a range of projects and sectors;
* Assist management to develop the business and seek opportunities
* Support senior management on VAT planning and ad hoc projects;
* Advise clients and partners on VAT changes in legislation and practice;
* Ensure timely delivery of VAT projects with technical excellence and a practical approach;
* Liaise and negotiate with HMRC on behalf of clients;
* Proactively manage existing clients to identify and win new work;
* Build and maintain strong client relationships and provide high levels of service.
