Medical Receptionist
About the Role
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and organised Receptionist to join our busy and supportive team at Lochend Surgery. As the first point of contact for patients, you'll play a vital role in providing excellent service and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
The post is for 22 hours per week Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri 2-6pm, and Tue 12–6pm. Salary will be dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
* Answer telephone calls and manage appointment bookings
* Handle patient queries efficiently and sensitively
* Update and maintain patient records accurately using Emis
* Process repeat prescription requests
* Assist with administrative tasks including scanning, filing, and correspondence
* Liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure coordinated care for patients
Requirements
* Previous experience in a reception or customer-facing role (preferably in a healthcare setting)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong IT skills and familiarity with patient record systems (training can be provided)
* Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
* Discretion and respect for patient confidentiality
* Flexibility to cover staff absences and work as part of a rota, including occasional evenings
