SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (KS1)

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 1 pupil in a friendly and inclusive primary school in Bexhill. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children reach their potential through tailored support and encouragement.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with a KS1 pupil who requires additional support due to learning or behavioural challenges. Your role will involve implementing strategies from the child’s EHCP, supporting their learning within the classroom, and assisting with their emotional and social development.
KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS1 pupil with identified SEN needs
* Assist the class teacher in delivering the curriculum and adapting lessons where necessary
* Monitor and track the pupil’s progress against IEP or EHCP targets
* Support the development of social skills, independence, and self-confidence
* Liaise with SENCOs, parents, and external professionals where appropriate
* Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement and progress
Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (KS1):
* Experience working with children with SEN in a primary school or childcare setting as a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) or similar
* Understanding of Key Stage 1 curriculum and early learning strategies
* A degree in Education, psychology, SEND or a similar field
* CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
* Familiarity with EHCPs and individualised support planning
* Calm, compassionate, and adaptable approach to learning support
* Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
