Job Introduction
Kents Hill Park is a dedicated training and conference centre located on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, offering a peaceful environment with easy access to major road, rail, and airport networks. It is ideal for training courses and conferences, featuring over 70 meeting rooms, 300 bedrooms, and a restaurant serving over 200 guests daily. The venue also includes a leisure club operated by Nuffield Health. As one of the largest training and conference centres in the UK, it can accommodate up to 600 delegates and is recognized as a leading venue in the home counties, part of The Venues Collection, a division of Compass Group UK & Ireland.
The Role
To lead all areas of Commercial and Financial Development to help achieve the venue’s profit targets. Ensure adherence to company policies, brand standards, and budgeted profitability. Lead Profit Protection Audit compliance and challenge forecasting and budgeting data for accuracy.

Department specific responsibilities
* Utilize forecasting to identify business risks and opportunities.
* Support development of department heads into commercially aware managers.
* Provide financial training to operational teams.
* Work with managers to analyze cost drivers and identify savings.
* Control payroll costs aligned with revenue, maintaining accurate records.
* Collaborate with General Manager and Head Office on management information.
* Implement reporting on market trends and internal/external insights.
* Ensure proficiency with all relevant IT systems.
* Maintain awareness of venue facilities and events.
* Manage Profit Protection manual actions for your department.
* Ensure SOP compliance within the department.
* Proactively manage team duties, handle guest feedback, and ensure high guest care standards.
* Hold regular department meetings and ensure effective communication.
* Manage stationary, equipment, billing accuracy, and maintenance requests.
* Drive email capture for marketing and carry out Duty Management shifts as needed.
People
* Complete departmental rotas based on business needs.
* Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance appraisals.
* Maintain team motivation and discipline following policies.
Health and Safety
* Own all H&S matters in your department.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and legal requirements.
Finance
* Maintain costs within budget and propose corrective actions if needed.
* Prepare staff rotas aligned with forecasted business and budgeted wages.
* Order supplies, control stock, and ensure proper charging for services.
Sales
* Lead by example, maintain good guest relations, and identify sales opportunities.
* Monitor competitors' activities and promote venue offerings.
