We are partnering with a private equity–backed care home group operating a multi-site portfolio across the UK. Backed by an ambitious investor and with a clear growth and performance agenda, the business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller with care sector experience to strengthen financial control and support operational delivery.
This is a hands-on, high-visibility role in a performance-driven environment.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the CFO, you will lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring robust controls, accurate reporting and commercial insight across the group's care home portfolio. You will work closely with Regional Directors and Home Managers to drive margin, occupancy performance and fee optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop the central finance team (management accounts, AP/AR, payroll oversight)
Deliver accurate monthly management accounts across a multi-site care portfolio
Own balance sheet integrity, cashflow forecasting and working capital management
Strengthen financial controls in a PE-backed environment
Partner with operations to improve occupancy, agency control and cost performance
Support budgeting, forecasting and board reporting
Assist with acquisition modelling, due diligence and integration
Drive systems and reporting improvements
The Candidate
Care home sector experience is essential. You will understand:
Occupancy dynamics and fee structures (LA, CHC, private pay)
Agency spend control and labour modelling
Multi-site P&L management
Regulatory cost pressures and compliance impacts
You will also bring:
ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification (or equivalent)
Experience in a PE-backed or high-growth SME environment
Strong financial control and reporting capability
A hands-on approach with commercial instinct
Confidence working with operational stakeholders
