Current offices are in Abuja, Addis Ababa, Dar Es Salaam, Delhi, Dhaka, Freetown, Hargeisa, Jakarta, Juba, Kabul, Kathmandu, Lusaka, Nairobi, Phnom Penh, Tunis, Yangon. Salary: The successful candidate will be employed and based in their home country, with salary according to BBC Media Action’s local pay scales.
This role may involve working with vulnerable groups. Mandatory training on safeguarding policies will be provided. BBC Media Action operates a zero-tolerance policy concerning abuse and exploitation. A police background check may be required.

About BBC Media Action
BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development organization, working in over 20 countries to support independent media that promotes democracy and development. Our projects reach over 100 million people annually, providing trustworthy information to improve health, bridge divides, challenge prejudice, and save lives. We follow BBC editorial standards and rely on donor funding.
With new funding from the UK government and EU, we are launching projects to enhance media resilience worldwide, across around twenty countries, involving multiple media development partners and organizations. The central team, the Global Media Development team, will lead these efforts.
Job Purpose
The Finance and Admin Coordinator will support the Senior Finance and Operations Manager in ensuring sound financial, grant management, and administrative practices across the projects, enhancing the effectiveness of the Global Media Development team.
Main Responsibilities
General Team Finance:
* Monitor and process invoices promptly and accurately.
* Reconcile consultants’ invoices.
* Assist in budgeting and forecasting.
* Review timesheets for all staff.
* Ensure financial reports are accurate and expenses are properly coded.
* Support financial and compliance training for teams and partners.
Project Finance:
* Maintain up-to-date project budgets.
* Support country office finance staff with expenditure recording and reporting.
* Assist in preparing donor financial reports and supporting documents.
* Help set up project budgets and track donor income.
* Ensure expenditure complies with donor guidelines.
* Support project audits and prepare audit files.
Partner Finance:
* Review partner financial reports and documentation.
* Assess partner compliance with support from the Partnerships team.
* Process partner payments and evaluate partner capacities.
Administrative Support:
* Assist with procurement and document filing.
* Support meetings, events, and travel arrangements.
Candidate Requirements
* Organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
* Experience in the charity sector and with donor funding.
* Effective communication skills.
* Meticulous with financial data management.
* Proficient in Office software and finance packages (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Self-motivated, able to handle routine queries and escalate as needed.
* Experience reviewing financial reports and reconciling data.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
* Experience with SAP and/or Access Dimensions.
* Knowledge of FCDO or EU funding and compliance.
* Understanding of the focus regions (e.g., Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Zambia).
