SEMH Teaching Assistant

Contract: Full-time, Temporary (potential for permanent)
Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

Job Description:
* Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
* Assist teachers in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.
* Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour and promote emotional well-being.
* Build positive relationships to boost pupils’ confidence and independence.
* Support learning and pastoral care in collaboration with teaching staff.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience supporting children with SEMH needs (school-based or transferable).
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour effectively.
* Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach to supporting pupils.
* Relevant qualifications (CACHE, NVQ, Psychology/Child Development degree) desirable but not essential.
