Tasks Assist in the development of business unit growth strategy through the provision of real time market data, data analysis and intelligence formulated from external sources. Liaise with and support business unit directors in this regard with recommendations. Identify bidding opportunities within the business unit’s selected markets and manage the relevant relationships with the key stakeholders to convert opportunities to an invitation to tender. Assess and prioritise bidding opportunities with the business unit head of pre-construction and business unit directors, managing stakeholders and customers’ expectations in accordance with the business unit strategy. Understand the key principles and requirements of the relevant stakeholders associated with bid opportunities and inform the bid team so that an effective win strategy can be developed. Develop, implement and maintain a client, consultant and stakeholder engagement plan relevant and appropriate for the business unit target sectors and business plan. Inform, input into and maintain a definitive opportunity pipeline with the head of pre-construction and business unit directors and identify and implement appropriate actions for the successful conversion from opportunity to invitation to tender. Identify and engage stakeholders within any emerging markets that have been identified and targeted within the business unit business plan and future strategy. Provide detailed reports on project opportunities identified including but not limited to overviews of the scheme, identification of associated opportunities and risks, timescales, sector information, identification of stakeholders and overview of the projects fit within the business unit business strategy and current/future workload. Represent STRABAG at meetings with clients, potential clients, key stakeholders and other contractors. Develop strong business relationships with senior staff within key client organisations, aligned with the business strategy. Develop, implement and maintain corporate hospitality plan which provides full coverage of clients, consultants and influencers. Identify and engage with wider STRABAG group businesses and individuals to leverage existing relationships which may aid the successful conversion of opportunities to invitation to tender and contract award. Identify external events, conferences, and engagements which have strategic benefit to the business unit and represent STRABAG at these events where appropriate. Input into and assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a marketing and communications plan for the business unit while consulting with the marketing and communications teams of STRABAG UK and the wider group. Input into and assist in the development of tailored marketing material such as capability documents, proposals and marketing brochures. Obtain and gather feedback and reports from clients and other stakeholders to allow continual improvement within our delivery and processes, make recommendations for improvements where appropriate. Qualifications HND or degree level qualification in a relevant subject Extensive variety in types of projects bid, including different procurement processes and different sectors Strong commercial, financial and business acumen Broad technical knowledge in construction and experience of design and construction techniques and best practices with Industrial and Logistics and Commercial projects Understanding of UK Construction procurement processes and procedures Articulate with good verbal, written and graphic communication skills Solid Client / Consultant / key Supply Chain relationships particularly in the Industrial and Logistics and Commercial sectors Previous experience within a similar business development role, for a major UK Contractor desired
