Job Description
Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Instrumentation & Control Technician to join our engineering team. This hands-on role is focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical systems across the site. You\'ll be responsible for the safe and compliant operation of electrical assets, supporting production uptime, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out diagnosis and correction of instrumentation, electronic and control issues related to both process and facilities equipment located across the whole site.
* Carry out calibration and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems as per procedural documentation.
* Accountable for maintaining, documenting maintenance work and improving maintenance procedures in compliance with GMP.
* Rectification of DSEAR compliance deviations
* Manage the back-up and recovery of automated Control Systems including PLCs, Industrial PC s, HMI s
* Manage critical spare parts ensuring availability of operationally good components and cost-effective supply.
* Provides and implements ideas that will improve efficiency, reduce cost, or improve the safety of the operation.
System Knowledge & Tools
* WORKMATE: Raise and manage job cards, update equipment history.
* EDMS: Access and revise procedural documents.
* BEAMEX: Record and track calibrations.
* Drawing Database: Access and update electrical schematics and layout drawings.
* MyPiramal: Record personal goals and performance reviews.
* Microsoft Office: Carry out general administrative tasks.
Safety & Compliance Responsibilities
* Follow safe working practices at all times, including LOTO and voltage checks.
* Participate in ESH tours and safety initiatives.
* Contribute to risk assessments and report hazards appropriately.
* Adhere to site control of change and waste handling procedures.
* Attend and complete all mandatory safety and compliance training.
Key Skills
* Have the required competencies to assemble, install, carry out preventative maintenance, repair, diagnose faults and remove and replace, and disassemble instrumentation and control systems and their associated system components.
* Understand the relevant legislative, regulatory, and local requirements or procedures and safe working practices, including their responsibilities with regards to reporting lines and procedures.
* Be able to read and interpret relevant engineering drawings, related specifications, quality standards and equipment manuals, and to follow work instructions and relevant plans and schedules.
* Understand which tools and equipment to use, and when, and will follow relevant training, methods and techniques and quality control and safety procedures for their use.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential:
* Time-served apprenticeship in C&I or E&I or equivalent trade
* GMP / Pharmaceutical / Chemical Manufacturing experience
* CompEx Certification
* HNC or equivalent in Engineering specific trade
