Job Title: Therapy Assistant
Location: Parkside House School – Ashington / Backworth (covering both sites)
Salary: £25,837.50 FTE DOE
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent – Term Time only
Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our developing, dedicated team of clinicians supporting our children and young people at Parkside House School. The role is cross‑disciplinary, primarily supporting our Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. You will work closely with the therapy team to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based support tailored to pupils’ needs, including assessments, intervention, and creation of communication and sensory profiles. You will also contribute to placement plans, co‑facilitate staff training, attend multi‑agency meetings, and support ongoing service development. The role offers regular opportunities for professional development through internal forums and external training funding.
Who We’re Looking For
We seek a Therapy Assistant who:
* Has experience working with young people with special educational needs.
* Is independently motivated while working under supervised clinical direction.
* Enjoys creatively designing bespoke interventions for complex pupils.
* Has a dynamic approach to problem solving.
Essential Criteria
* 5 GCSEs Grade C or above, including English.
* Evidence of post‑16 education.
* Willingness to pursue further qualifications as required.
* Experience as a therapy assistant or similar role is advantageous.
* Experience working in an educational setting is advantageous.
* Teamworking skills.
* Knowledge of working with children and young people with SEN.
* Ability to conduct 1:1 and group sessions under supervision.
* Excellent communication skills, including clear, technical, and clinically sensitive language to clients, families, and professionals.
* Strong organisational skills and experience with administrative tasks for a team.
* Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
