Overview
This is an opportunity to join our established Adult Physiotherapy team. This post is open to new graduates and established band 5 physiotherapists. Successful candidates will join our diverse team, who work across a range of clinical specialties within an acute care setting, rehabilitation and MSK outpatients. You will work alongside colleagues to assess and treat patients across a range of clinical conditions with varying degrees of complexity. You will be responsible for delivering evidence based interventions to facilitate recovery, promote well-being and optimise independent function. You will be an active member of the physiotherapy team and the wider multi-disciplinary team. We are seeking people who can adapt to changing environments and work well in a team. Main duties
* Organise and prioritise workload within the specialty and delegate tasks as appropriate.
* Use sound clinical judgement to prioritise patients and ensure effective use of resources; supervise and advise staff on caseload prioritisation and appropriate interventions for complex and routine cases.
* Demonstrate physical skills to carry out physiotherapy assessment and interventions.
* Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work and the management of patients in your care.
* Undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients with diverse or complex presentations and multi-pathologies; utilise clinical reasoning and manual assessment techniques to diagnose conditions (skills may be advanced).
* Formulate and deliver individual physiotherapy treatment programmes based on evidence-based practice and develop discharge plans (skills may be advanced).
* Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients to progress rehabilitation, including those with difficulties in understanding or communicating.
* Evaluate patient progress, re-assess and alter treatment programs as required.
* Provide advice to medical and nursing staff and other MDT members regarding patients within the specialty.
* Contribute to flexible and timely services, including working across seven days, bank holidays and overnight on call.
* Maintain timely and accurate recording of patient care in line with service policy, standards and legal requirements; contribute to data on service activity.
* Liaise with MDT and external agencies; represent physiotherapy in MDT meetings.
* Participate in staff training, CPD, audits, and outcome measures; engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
* Observe and adhere to HCPC Code of Practice and Trust/service policies and procedures.
* Deputise for Clinical Team Leader/Operational leads as required; maintain comprehensive documentation and communicate results through reports and letters.

Statutory Registration
* Essential: HCPC registration
* Desirable: Member of CSP
Qualifications
* Essential: BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent; HCPC Registration; Evidence of CPD; Understanding of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust values
* Desirable: Recognised relevant academic qualification; CSP membership; involvement in interest groups
Experience
* Essential: MDT working; excellent communication skills across settings; undergraduate core placements in musculoskeletal, orthopaedics, neurology and respiratory care
* Desirable: Previous band 5 or NHS experience relevant to role
Special Skills and Knowledge
* Essential: Up-to-date knowledge of professional practice and research; ability to cope in stressful environments with patients and carers; understand professional legal responsibilities; clear written and oral communication; organisational and prioritisation skills; respiratory on-call experience
* Desirable: Innovative approach; initiative to enhance service delivery; presentation and IT skills
Special Requirements
* Essential: Ability to carry out moderate to intense physical effort; represent the profession and Trust with enthusiasm, flexibility, empathy and reliability; able to participate in 7-day working including bank holidays and on-call; ability to travel across the Trust area
