We are looking for a Press Officer to join our Press Team on a full time 12 month fixed term contract, for Maternity cover.
The Press Team promotes and advocates for the Southbank Centre’s extensive and diverse artistic programme, and our work supporting emerging artists, education and arts & wellbeing activities. We regularly engage with journalists and influencers inviting them to key events and sharing updates on our activities and impact. As Press Officer you will be implementing creative media campaigns for all our artforms, including our upcoming 75th anniversary celebrations.

The annual salary stated is based on the Full-Time Equivalent (40 hours per week). If the job is part-time, the weekly hours will be stated within the advert.

Key Responsibilities
* Work effectively and flexibly as part of the Press Team, elevating the Southbank Centre’s artistic programme and artistic vision through media coverage in ambitious and creative ways
* Work with the Press Managers to devise and implement impactful media strategies and evaluate campaigns
* Secure news stories, opinion pieces, features, reviews, listings and other editorial coverage in a wide variety of publications, broadcast and digital media
* Build excellent relationships with key media contacts, partners, external stakeholders, publicists etc.
* Set up photo-calls, press events, briefings and press desks, and attend as required
Skills & Experience
* Has experience of implementing creative media campaigns in the arts and generating media coverage
* Is an enthusiastic storyteller with a strong news sense for stories that deliver impact
* Is a team player and a self-starter, with proven ability to drive their campaigns forward and deliver against targets
* Has worked in a busy press office, with familiarity in using media databases, maintaining contact lists and liaising with journalists
* Has excellent networking skills and the ability to build strong relationships within the media
