Talent Acquisition Manager at The V&A Museum
The Security Supervisor plays a key role in the day-to-day delivery of security operations at the V&A, helping to maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and collections. The role involves front-line security supervision, supporting incident response, and ensuring the effective implementation of security procedures during museum public operating hours and events. The role also involves assisting with routine tasks such as vetting support, basic training delivery, and maintaining effective communication and coordination during incidents. This is a fixed-term contract until 15/09/2026.
What will you be doing?
* Provide a visible security presence in galleries and lead daily security briefings for front-of-house staff and volunteers.
* Supervise security and safety operations across all V&A sites, ensuring the protection of people, collections, and buildings.
* Operate and support use of security systems; develop and implement SOPs, assignment instructions, and incident response plans.
* Deliver and record basic security training and provide support for staff development in security procedures.
* Support and supervise security arrangements for events, VIP visits, high-profile loans, and contractor works.
* Coordinate and supervise arrangements for events, VIP visits, high-profile loans, and contractor activities.
* Serve as a first aider and contribute to emergency response procedures.
* Provide occasional Duty Security Manager cover, supporting wider site operations and incident coordination.
* Liaise with contractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with site induction and vetting policies.
* Understand and provide cover for the vetting administrator as required, ensuring processes are followed and records maintained.
* Monitor gallery audits and resolve safety and security concerns in a timely manner.
* Work flexibly across multiple sites; contributing to event delivery whilst upholding security and safety standards.

* Carry out other duties as required within the scope of the Security Supervisor role.
What we are looking for
* A strong commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and security.
* Experience working in a security, safety, or risk-related role—ideally within a public-facing, cultural, or heritage environment.
* Confident in operating technical security systems such as CCTV, access control, and alarms.
* Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to report incidents accurately and work effectively across teams.
* Well-organised and detail-oriented, able to follow procedures and assist in operational planning.
* Awareness of risk assessments and an understanding of how to support safe working practices.
* Competent in using Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) and other basic digital tools.
* Calm under pressure and able to make sound decisions in real-time during incidents or emergencies.
* Knowledge of safety and security protocols within museums, heritage sites, or large public venues.
* Trained first aider or willing to complete first aid training; able to provide support during medical incidents.
* Experience supporting incident response or playing a role in emergency situations.
* Reliable and proactive, with a flexible attitude towards changing priorities and tasks.
* Professional and composed when working in time-sensitive or high-profile situations.
* A team player who works collaboratively and respectfully with colleagues at all levels.
* Willing to work outside standard hours when needed, including providing cover and supporting events.
