Salary: £49,004 - £72,592 + car /car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
SSEN Transmission are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Operations Cable Engineer to join our dynamic Transmission Operations team. In this vital role, you will play a key part in the delivery of the Operations & Maintenance of all AC Cable Systems currently in service, and those that are currently in project execution phase. You’ll also support the execution of AC Cable System Service Level Agreements for the Operations team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of a forward-thinking team while developing your skills in the energy sector.
You will
* Lead Operations team regular engagement with AC Cable Projects at Gate stages, and attend regular design review HAZID/HAZOP meetings ensuring Operations & Maintenance requirements are embedded in to project designs. This will include route surveys for underground AC cable systems in development/design phases.
* Support the definition, execution and management of Service Level Agreements with various AC Cable OEM partners. This will also include the preparation and regular review of Cable Repair Preparedness plans, verifying accuracy of final records and supporting spares inventory management, for both underground and subsea cable assets.
* Where necessary provide first point support for the coordination and supervision of Contractors performing fault location, emergency repair and defect remedials works associated with underground and subsea AC cable systems & accessories. You will also support the witnessing of Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests as required for new AC cable assets.
* Conduct regular site inspections and route surveys to ensure asset integrity is maintained, and that contractors and internal stakeholders are complying with industry HSE regulations, SSEN Safe Systems of Work, also CDM and ESQC Regulations.
* Support the review of any Third Party crossings / proximity requests on AC Cable assets, including review of crossing designs and ratings reports, liaising with Cable Engineering teams and supporting the drafting of legal agreements as required.
You have
* Experience in the design, manufacture and/or testing of HV Cables for use in HVAC and HVDC projects both onshore and offshore.
* Experience in performing and/or witnessing various cable fault location techniques (such as TDR, ICM etc).
* An understanding of HV Cable system design and ratings (such as CYMCAP, ELEK etc.) and an understanding of IEC cable standards, CIGRE technical policies and ENA guidance for HV cable systems.
* The ability to create strong relationships with AM&O team members, engineers, managers, procurement, and external OEMs. Excellent verbal and written communication and solid presentation skills are required.
* The ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritise tasks, and balance short- and long-term business goals.
Please note due to the various location visits, a full drivers licence is required for this position.
