We are working with a well-established and highly respected precision engineering business based in Wiltshire. With a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and continuous growth, this organisation supplies specialist products to the oil heating sector and remains a leader in its field.
They are now looking to recruit an experienced Quality Inspector (CMM) to join their team and support their ongoing commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Dimensional & Technical Inspection
Carry out advanced dimensional inspections using CMMs and a wide range of measurement tools (micrometres, gauges, surface measurement equipment).
Program and operate CMM systems for complex component inspection.
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining symbols to ensure product compliance.
Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections on CNC machined, bought-in, and subcontracted components.
Produce and approve documentation including FAIRs, ISIRs, PPAP submissions, and traceability records.Quality Systems & Compliance
Support and maintain compliance with ISO 9001, with awareness of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Assist with internal audits, process audits, and supplier approvals.
Manage calibration systems, ensuring all inspection equipment is traceable and compliant.
Verify material certification, batch traceability, and supplier documentation.Non-Conformance & Problem Solving
Identify and manage non-conforming products, ensuring effective containment.
Make informed disposition decisions (accept, reject, rework, or concession).
Contribute to root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys and Ishikawa diagrams.
Support trend analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.Leadership & Communication
Provide technical guidance to junior inspectors and production teams.
Offer feedback to machining teams regarding process variation and tool performance.
Communicate effectively with engineering, production, and customers.
Deliver training on inspection techniques and quality procedures where required.Operational Excellence
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised inspection environment in line with 5S standards.
Ensure correct handling and protection of components, including high-value items.
Support continuous improvement projects and scrap reduction initiatives.About You
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong background in quality inspection within precision engineering.
Proficient in CMM programming and operation.
Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
Experience working within ISO 9001 quality systems.
Competent with a wide range of measurement tools and calibration processes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.What's on Offer
