The Deputy Head of Midwifery is responsible for delivering safe, clinically effective, cost-efficient, and compassionate midwifery care within the Trust. They provide assurance to the Head of Midwifery and senior colleagues regarding compliance with professional, organisational, and national standards.

The role supports the operational management of maternity services and reports to the Head of Midwifery. The postholder will be an enthusiastic, motivated, visible, and accessible midwifery leader, professionally responsible for delivering high-quality maternity services within the Trust.
The Deputy Head of Midwifery will directly manage the maternity matrons.
Our services cover three major hospitals in North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, along with smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed. We also operate the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. Additionally, we provide home care and community services, offering patients greater choice and control over their care to promote independence and reduce hospital admissions.
