Pricing Analyst: ThePricing Analyst will work closely with the Pricing Manager and Lead Pricing Analysts to conduct detailed data analysis using sophisticated actuarial techniques and advanced analytics to inform pricing actions aimed at predicting future risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and increasing volume and profit. These pricing actions will have a direct and immediate impact on the business’s future profitability and growth, with key targets to increase conversion, retention, and achieve target loss ratios.
Main Responsibilities as Pricing Analyst:
1. Dataset Development: Create and maintain up-to-date and accurate datasets for modelling, pricing, and monitoring.
2. Data Management: Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of data used for modelling, pricing, and monitoring.
3. Predictive Model Development: Develop and validate predictive models, including machine learning models.
4. Pricing Analysis: Conduct pricing analyses and prepare options for senior stakeholders.
5. Pricing Model Maintenance: Develop and maintain pricing models, supporting their deployment.
6. Rate Deployment: Aid rate releases and review/test rates in the rate engine/live environment.
7. Performance Monitoring: Develop a balanced view of current and future pricing performance by combining MI, modelling results, and company targets.
Record Maintenance: Maintain records to coordinate pricing decisions and implementation across teams.
8. Project Management: Develop and assist on projects across all stages of the price control cycle.
Skills and experience you need as Pricing Analyst:
9. A good quantitative degree, in Statistics, Mathematics or Actuarial Science.
10. Knowledge of insurance products and distributions (direct, intermediary, aggregators).
11. Experience of using statistics to explore and validate data, extract and manipulate large datasets for analysis.
12. Experienced in the use of programming language ( SAS, SQL) and/or statistical packages is beneficial but not a requirement.
13. Experience in some of the following predictive modelling techniques Regression, Log-Gamma GLMs, GBMs, Elastic Net GLMs, GAMs, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Support Vector Machines and Neural Nets is beneficial but not a requirement.
14. Experienced in the use of a programming language ( R, Matlab, Python or Octave).
15. Experience of using Emblem and Radar is beneficial but not essential.
16. Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail.
