We are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team at Linford Block Plant near Stanford-le-Hope, Essex. The site is accessible from nearby towns including Tilbury, Gravesend, Rochester, and others.
Our Linford Plant manufactures sustainable, energy-efficient aerated blocks used widely in homes and workplaces.
Main Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter, you will undertake plant maintenance, repairs, and improvements to ensure maximum reliability and assist team members in plant operation. Your responsibilities include:
* Responding to plant breakdowns, repairing equipment efficiently while minimizing downtime, adhering to safety standards and statutory legislation
* Improving plant performance while maintaining safety and asset reliability
* Supporting the development of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
* Maintaining policies, procedures, and guidelines for safe and efficient maintenance
* Contributing to weekly maintenance planning
* Updating information in CMMS or related systems
* Participating in major equipment overhauls and shutdown coordination
This is a shift role, with overtime available to meet site needs.
The Ideal Candidate
The role is varied and rewarding, requiring:
* Level 3 Apprentice training or ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (beneficial but not essential; QBE acceptable)
* Knowledge of maintenance practices, hydraulics, and pneumatics
* Experience in fabricating and welding
* Experience with TPM methodology and Continuous Improvement
* Understanding of engineering maintenance principles, especially in heavy industry
* Knowledge of Predictive Maintenance
* Experience with CMMS and root cause analysis tools
* Understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and relevant codes and symbols
* Ability to learn safety rules applicable to each department
