The institution is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Sessional Lecturer in Viticulture to support its rapidly expanding wine-growing and education initiatives. Following the recent planting of 16,000 sapling vines—and a further 14,000 scheduled for planting next year—the organisation is developing a significant teaching and research resource that will enhance practical learning across its land-based curriculum.
The postholder will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of high-quality teaching in viticulture, supporting both short courses and future higher-education programmes as these are established. Working closely with academic teams and industry partners, the lecturer will ensure course content reflects current best practice in vineyard establishment, vine health, sustainable management, and emerging technologies within the UK viticulture sector.
A key element of the role will be supporting delivery on the existing apprenticeship programme, providing engaging, practice-based instruction that integrates on-site vineyard activity with classroom learning. The successful candidate will draw on their technical expertise and industry experience to guide learners at a range of levels, helping develop the next generation of viticulture professionals.

Suitable candidates should have the following:
Essential:
- Level 3 or higher qualification in viticulture, agriculture or similar
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the industry
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English or equivalent
- Ability to apply working knowledge of theory and practical to a teaching environment
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Willingness to undertake Level 5 teacher training if not already qualified
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to use Microsoft Office
- Well organised and able to work under pressure
- A desire to interact with young people
Desirable but not essential as vocational skills and a desire to inspire are far more important:
- Recognised teaching qualification
- Previous teaching/training experience
- Previous assessing skills/qualifications
