Job Description
Our client is an award-winning volume developer looking to expand their team with a proven Senior Surveyor, to will play a key role in the financial management and commercial success of our residential developments. You’ll lead on procurement, cost planning, contract administration, and budget management across multiple sites, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all commercial aspects of designated housing developments.
* Leading and coaching your direct reports and supporting the wider team’s professional growth, including recruitment, development reviews, and succession planning.
* Collaborating closely with Land, Development, and Construction teams, attending design meetings and pre-start reviews to advise on cost implications.
* Recognising and advising Site Managers on delays, extensions of time, and potential loss and expense, ensuring appropriate notices are issued.
* Preparing accurate cost reports, budgets, and forecasts, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of subcontractors and materials. Oversee procurement of subcontractors and materials, ensuring value for money.
* Lead on contract negotiation, administration, and final account settlements.
* Monitor project budgets and report on financial performance.
* Build strong relationships with site teams, consultants, and suppliers.
* Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Mentor and support junior members of the surveying team.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Surveyor within the residential construction sector with either a PLC or SME developer and have strong commercial and negotiation skills. Candidates from Main Contracting backgrounds will also be considered.
