Role: Quality Engineer
Permanent Opportunity: Full time – Mon-Fri
Location: Preston / Wigan / Bolton / Blackburn - Northwest, multi‑site responsibility
Salary: £37,500 – £40,000 per annum, plus performance bonuses

Our client:
Our growing client in the automotive security and tech industry, and is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to help shape a robust business management system across multiple Northwest sites. The business is scaling quickly and needs a quality professional who can build structure, improve processes and support continued growth in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Quality Engineer - Duties & Responsibilities:
* Lead, maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) and wider Business Management System across all sites.
* Plan and perform internal audits (daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly) against IATF/TS 16949 and related standards.
* Conduct process audits and drive corrective and preventive actions.
* Support and run APQP activities for new and existing products in an automotive manufacturing environment.
* Facilitate and contribute to 8D investigations to resolve non‑conformances.
* Prepare and support quarterly management review meetings with quality data and analysis.
* Own day‑to‑day quality operations, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory and licence requirements.
* Develop and structure documentation, procedures and records from a “blank canvas” into a coherent, usable system.
* Support automotive customers’ quality and documentation requirements, including risk assessments and detailed quality reports.
* Provide quality and documentation support to the sales/commercial teams for bids, tenders and customer queries.
* Work closely with internal stakeholders in manufacturing, engineering, sales and field service teams.
* Use Microsoft 365/SharePoint and AI tools to manage, control and improve quality documentation and workflows.
Quality Engineer - Person Specification:
* Ideally a minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quality Engineer role, ideally in automotive or closely related manufacturing.
* Solid experience with TS/IATF 16949 audits and business management systems; exposure to ISO 27001 is desirable.
* HNC in Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).
* Strong audit, documentation and process improvement skills, with the confidence to challenge and ask “why”.
* Inquisitive, critical thinker with the ability to interpret data, link it to KPIs and make practical recommendations.
* Comfortable working in a fast‑growth environment and building structure where little currently exists.
