Hunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Microbiology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in Glasgow. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a progressive and well-resourced microbiology department while gaining valuable NHS experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform routine and specialist microbiology testing including culture, identification, and sensitivity (C&S)
* Use automated systems such as MALDI-TOF, BD Phoenix, and Vitek for bacterial identification and susceptibility
* Process a wide range of specimens (urine, blood, swabs, respiratory, etc.)
* Ensure compliance with UKAS/ISO 15189 and maintain quality standards
* Accurately record and validate results using LIMS
Essential Requirements:
* HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist
* Minimum of 1 year UK experience in a Microbiology lab
* Proficiency in specimen processing, culture techniques, and result interpretation
* Understanding of quality control and assurance in a clinical microbiology setting
Desirable:
* Previous NHS experience
* Experience with LIMS platforms like Telepath or Clinisys
