About the Role
As a
SEND Teaching Assistant
, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with a range of special educational needs across the school. You must be prepared to work with children of all ages.
Your role will include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support for children with SEND
Assisting with personalised learning plans
Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Supporting children with communication, sensory or physical needs
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
Helping create an inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environment
Key Responsibilities
Support classroom learning and adapt activities for pupils with SEND
Deliver targeted interventions based on individual needs
Help monitor pupil progress and provide ongoing feedback
Promote independence, confidence, and well-being in all learners
Assist with care needs where required
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
Maintain a patient, calm, and nurturing approach
What We’re Looking For
Experience supporting children with SEND (desired but not essential)
A caring, patient, and positive attitude
Strong communication skills
Ability to work flexibly across different age groups
A passion for helping children thrive academically and emotionally
Willingness to learn and take part in training
Teaching Assistant qualifications (Level 2 or Level 3) are beneficial but not required.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
