Senior Associate – Energy Sector (Commercial Team) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced candidate to join a successful and highly ranked commercial team, specialising in the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of energy law, regulatory frameworks, and commercial contracts (including grid connections, power purchase agreements, and other route-to-market arrangements). However, candidates from a more general commercial or projects background with a genuine interest in focusing on the energy sector are also encouraged. This opportunity will offer exposure to complex transactions on a national and international scale. The work is high profile and with wide reach, from renewables, to oil & gas, net-zero and nuclear work. You will be instrumental in helping clients navigate the complexities of this evolving and high-profile industry. Key Responsibilities: Provide legal advice on energy law, regulations, and compliance matters. Draft, review, and negotiate energy-related contracts and agreements. Advise on project documentation associated with renewable, low, and net-zero carbon energy generation and storage projects. Conduct legal research and monitor legislative developments in the energy sector. Represent clients in negotiations with project stakeholders. Support clients in meeting environmental and energy regulatory requirements. Advise on risk management and mitigation strategies for energy projects. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailored legal solutions. Skills and Experience: Ideally 5–10 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) in a relevant discipline such as hydrogen, renewables, nuclear, solar, or low/net-zero carbon energy projects. Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in the energy sector. Proven experience advising clients on transactional matters within the energy industry. However, if you have relevant transactional experience in commercial contracts, projects or even corporate work, we would love to speak to you. The team has experience of extensive training, and can commit to the development of someone with a genuine interest in advancing a career in the energy sector. This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious legal professional to take the next step in their career and work on innovative and large-scale projects. The culture of the team is fast paced, but supportive, and can offer excellent career prospects for someone looking to develop in this area of work.
