Description We are currently looking for a Machine Shop Technician - Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) Operative to join our Machine Shop team at Almondbank in Perth. Job Summary: We are seeking a detail orientated engineer with a strong aptitude for precise measurements: prior experience is not essential as we are willing to provide training for the right candidate. The engineer joining our machine shop team will have the ability to carry out detailed measurement and inspection on components on our Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM). The CMM Operative will be responsible for conducting precise measurements of components and assemblies using CMM equipment to ensure quality standards are met. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Key Responsibilities : Preparation and Setup - Set up and calibrate CMM equipment according to specifications and quality control procedures. Measurement and Inspection - Perform measurements on parts and assemblies using the CMM, including probing and visual inspections to ensure compliance with technical drawings and specifications. Data Recording and Reporting - Accurately record measurement data and prepare detailed reports to document findings. Identify non-conformities and communicate with relevant team members. Maintenance - Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CMM equipment to ensure optimal performance. Report any malfunction or required repairs to the supervisor. Process Improvement - Collaborate with engineering and production teams to recommend process improvements based on measurement data and inspection results. Documentation - Maintain proper documentation of inspection processes, measurement results, and calibration records in compliance with ISO and company standards. Training - Participate in training new team members and assist in generating work instructions related to CMM operations. Qualifications: Education – Higher National certificate in engineering or equivalent is preferred. Experience - Previous experience operating CMM equipment is highly desirable but not essential. Familiarity with various measurement tools and quality inspection methods is preferred. Technical Skills - Proficient in using CMM software (e.g., PC-DMIS) and interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Attention to Detail - Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail to identify deviations from specifications. Problem-Solving - Ability to troubleshoot measurement issues and implement corrective actions effectively. Communication Skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members and prepare reports. Teamwork - Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated and able to work independently. Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity and coordination for handling precision tools and equipment. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods during inspections and measurements.
