Description The Shire of Derby/West Kimberley is looking for an Administration Officer who is reliable, friendly, and confident in handling day‑to‑day administrative tasks within the People and Culture (HR) function. In this role, you’ll support the smooth running of our operations by assisting with enquiries, preparing documents, coordinating meetings and logistic arrangements, and keeping our records accurate and up to date. You’ll work with people across the organisation and the community, helping ensure everyone receives timely, courteous, and helpful service. About the Role: In this role, you will provide high‑quality general administration, assist with enquiries, support meetings and travel bookings, maintain accurate records, and contribute to smooth day‑to‑day operations. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to organisational policies. What You'll Be Doing: Providing general administration support such as preparing documents, handling correspondence, and data entry. Assisting with booking meetings, venues, and simple event logistics. Responding to enquiries from staff and community members in a friendly, helpful manner. Maintaining accurate digital and physical records, registers, and filing systems. Helping manage shared inboxes and directing enquiries to the right people. Skills And Experiences Essential: Experience in administration or office support, with confidence managing day‑to‑day tasks and using your initiative when needed. Friendly and professional communication skills, with the ability to provide helpful service to both staff and the community. Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work calmly and adapt when things change. Comfortable using Microsoft Office and digital recordkeeping systems, with attention to accuracy. Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively within a team, contributing to a positive and inclusive workplace. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle information with care and integrity. Desirable: Understanding of local government processes or experience working in a community‑focused organisation. Experience with filing systems, registers, or maintaining accurate records. Certificate II or III in Business Administration (or similar background). Experience coordinating meetings, bookings, or basic logistics.
