The Visual Storytelling division of ESPN Creative Studio is a team of creative directors, art directors, animators, concept artists, visual journalists, photo editors, web developers, graphic designers and strategy producers whose work reaches across every ESPN platform: We lead the creative direction and execution of on-air brand identities for ESPN’s live events and studio shows. We are responsible for the creative content on ESPN.com and the ESPN app, including photography, illustration, and interactive storytelling. We create and produce key art for ESPN+ and manage product art across our digital products. We manage the design voice of our ESPN brand, from holistic marketing campaigns to cross-platform creative systems.
The Creative Strategy and Integration team is part of Visual Storytelling and is responsible for the strategic creative vision and execution plan for ESPN Creative Studio’s portfolio of work. We also create and optimize new and innovative workflows across digital, streaming, broadcast and marketing. The Creative Producer builds and oversees strategy and workflow for large-scale broadcast seasonal and new projects as well as marketing campaigns.
Responsibilities:
* Work with Senior Manager and other stakeholders to set creative strategy and execution plan for season-long identity graphics projects.
* Work with creative leads and Strategy stakeholders to develop strong, streamlined workflows for asset production.
* Produce transition plans for Visual Storytelling’s adoption of new tools, and help sunset dated workflows and software.
* Prepare and release regular reports on systems, tools and workflows leveraged across the team.
* Work with Senior Manager on intake and tracking of work leveraging the ESPN brand identity, and produce specific brand-first projects.
* Point of contact for strategy communications across Creative Studio, and help maintain documentation on use of brand identity.
* Forecast with the Senior Staff to build an LRP, including major technology initiatives and goals.
* Develop thorough knowledge of sports streaming and linear landscape.
* Motivate, educate, direct a team or individual Designers, Animators, Editors and others assigned to a project whether in-house, freelance or with an external production group.
* Accountable for strict adherence to established department procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years broadcast producing or marketing experience.
* Ability to run internal meetings, and some meetings with client/stakeholders.
* Strong understanding of Microsoft based software (Word, Excel, 365).
* Demonstrated ability to get along with diverse personalities and working styles.
* Partnering and teamwork skills.
* Ability to lead creative and producing teams on large- and small-scale projects.
* Detail and multi-task oriented, the ability to multitask and deliver consistently with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to work well within a team environment.
* Very strong communication (both oral and written) and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge of the sports design space, trends, and an understanding of ESPN’s place amongst the competition.
* Knowledge of ESPN distribution points, including MVPDs and SVODs.
* Knowledge of project management tools, including Asana, Atlassian tools, Smartsheet, etc.
Required Education:
* College Diploma or equivalent
