Main Duties of the Job
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Locum Consultant Anaesthetist to join the team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. You will work collaboratively with consultant colleagues, delivering high‑quality anaesthetic care across diverse surgical specialities. You will support service plans, adapt to evolving clinical practices and new technologies, engage with Clinical Governance initiatives, and contribute to teaching, research and audit activities.

Job Responsibilities
* Work alongside other consultant colleagues to deliver a comprehensive anaesthetic service within the Trust.
* Support the speciality service plans, embrace changes in clinical practice and new technologies.
* Engage with and advance Clinical Governance initiatives.
* Contribute to teaching and research activities, including supervising resident doctors and undergraduate students.
* Maintain and update skills through continuous medical education and mandatory training.
* Participate in annual appraisals and report concerns about colleagues.
* Adhere to the General Medical Council's Good Medical Practice and Trust core behaviours.
* Comply with Health and Safety, Infection Control policies and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
* Attend to administrative responsibilities and use the Trust's IT facilities.
Qualifications
* FRCA or equivalent qualification.
* Eligible for full GMC registration with a current licence to practice.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview) or European Community Rights.
* Comprehensive clinical experience across all areas of anaesthesia.
* Demonstrated ability to carry out medical research and participate in clinical audit.
Experience
* Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
* Completed a recognised higher specialist training programme in Anaesthesia.
* Experience training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Experience in research supervision and audit participation.
Additional Requirements
* Hold full GMC registration and licence to practice.
* Fit to practice safely and medically fit to fulfil all aspects of the post.
* Demonstrable proficiency in written and spoken English (IELTS or OET scores as specified).
