The Role
Balfor Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to support pupils within an all-through school in Walsall. This full-time ongoing role involves supporting both Primary and Secondary‑aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional behavioural support needs.
The successful Behaviour Mentor will work closely with teaching staff to provide consistent classroom support, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils engage positively with education in a safe and structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils requiring behavioural and emotional support
* Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, communication, and social skills
* Assist teachers in adapting learning activities and classroom resources to meet individual needs
* Contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), and risk assessments
* Promote positive behaviour and support a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
* Build positive and consistent relationships with pupils as a trusted adult role model
* Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and relevant professionals
* Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies and de‑escalation techniques in line with school policies
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers, and external agencies including CAMHS and social care professionals
Requirements
* Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or equivalent – desirable
* Relevant studies or qualifications in Psychology, Education, or related fields – desirable
* Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor or supporting pupils within SEMH, PRU, Alternative Provision, or similar settings – essential
* Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to adapt to the varying needs of pupils and educational settings
