Role and key responsibilities for Revenue Assistant
* Applying all changes to Council Tax and Business Rates accounts and authorising invoices raised by internal departments.
* Taking card payments using industry-standard software.
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Council Tax, Business Rates, and Sundry Debt legislation, internal procedures, and keeping fully informed of relevant changes.
* Setting up direct debits and handling sensitive financial information confidentially and securely.
* Managing billing exception reports and rebilling accounts as necessary.
* Assessing and processing refunds.
* Establishing payment and special payment arrangements in accordance with internal processes, including completing financial statements when needed.
* Promoting online services to residents and assisting them in creating accounts and linking them to their Council Tax or Business Rates accounts.
Minimum Requirements for Revenue Assistant
* Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 8, specifically GDPR, and its impact on the Revenues Service.
* Understanding of Revenues billing and recovery statutory legislation.
* Experience operating billing, recovery, and invoicing systems.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working hours: Monday - Friday
