£216.43 PAYE / £297.44 Umbrella (Inside IR35)

A Local Authoritry based in Central London is currently seeking an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to support its Building Control and Dangerous Structures functions during a peak in workload. This is a temporary assignment within the Growth, Planning and Housing directorate, working on a hybrid basis with occasional site inspections required.
The role plays a key part in ensuring the safety, compliance, and structural integrity of developments across the borough.
Responsibilities:
Review and check structural designs submitted with planning and building regulations applications
Provide timely responses to basement development consultations issued by Planning
Carry out occasional site inspections as required
Advise on, prepare reports for, and support actions relating to Dangerous Structures
Act as a core member of the Dangerous Structures team
Manage caseloads effectively, ensuring SLAs and response times are consistently met
Support Building Control Surveyors with structural assessmentsRequirements:
Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or equivalent recognised body
Significant operational experience in structural engineering
Strong time management, organisational, and record-keeping skills
Proven ability to assess structural information promptly and accurately
Confident working independently within a fast-paced local authority environment
